Santos Dumont: First Flight Indeed

--

14-bis the first air plane flying in Paris piloted by Santos Dumont its inventor.

On July 20th, we celebrated the birthday of the father of aviation, Santos Dumont. Born in 1873 in Minas Gerais, Brazil.

On September 7, 1906, Santos Dumont flew the first plane capable of taking off from the ground unaided with numerous witnesses in Paris.

Remembering that this was the first flight performed by a heavier-than-air machine capable of taking off from the ground with its own resources, landing and being pilotable, similar to the planes we see today.

Santos Dumont’s invention, the 14-bis was patent-free, it means, an open source project. The project was recognized by several European countries as the first airplane.

May his memory never be forgotten.
